Request: I would like to have helping hand to make this project successful. I am living 5km away to Vijayawada Railway station. Vijayawada-Amaravathi city is capital of Andhrapradesh. I kindly request you support our project. Please give us chance to give good life to street children and save their childhood. We do not have funds. Kindly give us one chance. By this project we can give rehabilitation to nearly 60 kids per year.
How they become street children & their problems:
Vijayawada is a big Railway Junction since it is on the main railway line connecting Chennai and Kerala in the South with Calcutta in the East, Mumbai in the West and Delhi in the North. The railway station is open 24 hours a day and over 130 passenger trains pass through this town. Vijayawada is therefore a place where many “run-away” children land up. It is estimated that there are about 34 street children land up in Vijayawada every day.
Many street children are driven out of their homes by poverty and abuse: ill treatment by parents, a step-father or step-mother who is hostile to the child, a broken home, a father who is out of work or who is an alcoholic or drug addict. Children run away from home and face many problem alone on streets and afraid to go back home.
Street kids are also constantly exposed to the elements – sun, rain and cold. The streets are places of filth and dirt. Sleeping on the roads and railway platforms with a newspaper for a bed, eating leftover/through from rail’s/ from the garbage bins of the hotels exposes them to all kinds of infection and disease. If the situation of the boys is bad, it is much worse for the girls. All of them are sexually abused and if not rescued usually end up in a brothel.
Our rescue and rehabilitation program serves the needs of these children. They must be provided with a Home, food, clothing and medical aid. They need a basic education and some vocational training.
    Thanking you,
    Yours Faithfully,
    Nakka Ayyappa, MA.,
